We’re proud to announce a major leap forward by Emery Engineering. This is a one-of-a-kind, world-first piece of machinery designed and built right here in Australia for Apex Steel. Despite taking just two weeks to install this project, it has been years in the making.

This highly automated innovation allows Apex Steel to roll and flip APDECK sheets up to 27.5 metres long. It’s perfect for large-scale projects like roofing, factories, office buildings, sheds, multi-storey residential developments and much more.

Why It Matters:

Previously, producing sheets of this size required a significant amount of manual labour. Handling long sheets and heavy strapped packs was not only labour-intensive but also posed safety risks and potential injury concerns for our team. Now, thanks to years of collaboration and testing alongside Apex Steel, we’ve eliminated many of these challenges.

What makes this system a standout:

  • Speed & Efficiency: Sheets are now run faster, with the ability to produce packs autonomously.
  • Safety First: Multiple sensors and electric laser gates are integrated to prevent injuries, creating a safer environment for our staff.
  • Reduced Damage & Waste: The new process ensures less damage to sheets and minimises wastage.
  • Simplified Handling: Packs are stacked quicker, safer and easier to strap and transport.
  • Locally Designed & Engineered: Developed by long-term partners Apex Steel and Emery Engineering, this is a true testament to Australian ingenuity and precision engineering.

You’ll also spot this impressive machine painted in the Apex Steel signature Apex Orange, proudly standing as a symbol of innovation at the Apex Steel Dandenong South facility.

We’re thrilled to continue pushing boundaries in steel manufacturing and couldn’t have done it without the collaboration between the dedicated teams at Apex Steel and Emery Engineering. The combined expertise and collaboration have delivered something truly unique to the industry.
